How it went

Got my ass whooped.

First ride back in 4 months off the mountain bike. I felt strong on the climbs because of all of the commuting recently, but as soon as the descent began, I was in my head. It’s true that I’m playing with a reduction in tire width and intentionally higher pressures than I normally run. It’s also true that the bike felt noticeably more skittish and unpredictable. It got me wanting to do a tire pressure test and comparison. Soon. Anyway, building confidence is going to take some time.

Anyway, the climb out of the canyon crushed me. An attempt at a standing up in a higher gear than normal failed. I got 1/4 up the climb before it told me to sit down and get with granny. I listened. Then I spun out. Fail. Blame could only be placed on me. Got to love the rust coming off. Let’s see how the next one goes.
